Melasma face

Melasma is a very common patchy brown, tan, or blue-gray facial skin discoloration, almost entirely seen in women in the reproductive years. It typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin of women 20-50 years of age. Most people with melasma have a history of daily or intermittent sun exposure. Melasma is most common among pregnant women, especially those of Latin and Asian descents.
An estimated 45-50 million women worldwide live with melasma; over 90%of all cases are women. Prevention is primarily aimed at facial sun protection and sun avoidance.
Symptoms
The condition causes patches of dark discoloration to occur on your skin. These patches are darker than your typical skin color. While the majority of cases occur on the face, other areas of your body that are often exposed to sun can also develop melasma. When it occurs on the face, it is typically symmetrical, with marks on both sides of the face matching.

  1. Small pink or red drop like lesions appear on the skin, especially after a person has had a streptococcal infection, such as tonsillitis. The drops will start appearing some two to three weeks after the infection.
  2. These drop lesions would also be very itchy and irritating.
  3. The lesions will also spread from one place to the rest of the body. It usually starts in the arms, legs or trunks, and from there, it can spread to the face, scalp etc.

Psoriatic Arthritis

This is a condition where you have both psoriasis and arthritis (joint inflammation). About 90% of people with psoriatic arthritis will also have nail changes related to psoriasis.
The most common joint symptoms of psoriatic arthritis are:
·         Painful and stiff joints that are worse in the morning and after rest
·         Sausage like swelling of the fingers and toes
·         Warm joints that may be discolored

If a person with psoriasis develops joint symptoms that last more than a few weeks, they should be evaluated to see if they have developed psoriatic arthritis.  Although psoriatic arthritis is not as debilitating as other forms of arthritis, it should be controlled to minimize pain and maximize joint function.

Nail Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a common chronic condition of the skin. A person with psoriasis typically has patches of raised, red skin with silvery scales. The affected skin may look shiny and red or even have pustules, depending on the type of psoriasis the individual has. These skin changes usually occur on the elbows, knees, scalp, and trunk.Psoriasis can also affect the fingernails and toenails, causing pitting and thickening and irregular contour of the nail.
Most people who have psoriasis of the nails also have skin psoriasis (cutaneous psoriasis). Only 5% of people with psoriasis of the nails do not have skin psoriasis. In people who have skin psoriasis, 10%-55% have psoriasis of the nails (also called psoriatic nail disease). About 10%-20% of people who have skin psoriasis also have psoriatic arthritis, a specific condition in which people have symptoms of both arthritis and psoriasis. Of people with psoriatic arthritis, 53%-86% have affected nails, often with pitting.
If psoriasis of the nails is severe and is not treated, it can lead to functional and social problems.

Scalp Psoriasis

Several types of psoriasis may appear on the scalp. Some may cause severe dandruff, while others can be painful, itchy, and very noticeable at the hairline. It can extend to the neck, face, and ears, and it may be in one large patch or many smaller patches.

In some cases, scalp psoriasis can make even regular hair hygiene difficult. Excessive scratching can cause hair loss and scalp infections, and the condition can be a source of social stress. Topical treatments may be effective, but they may require an initial two months plus permanent regular maintenance.

777 oil is a single herbal formulation prepared by lipid extraction procedure. This formulation was first described by Dr JR Krishnamoorthy and was later patented by CCRAS, New Delhi. This drug is found to be effective in the management of Psoriasis.

DANO - Anti Dandruff Hair Oil

Dandruff

Dandruff is a common scalp disorder affecting almost half of the population at the post-pubertal age and of any gender and ethnicity. It often causes itching. It has been well established that keratinocytes play a key role in the expression and generation of immunological reactions during dandruff formation. The severity of dandruff may fluctuate with season as it often worsens in winter. Most cases of dandruff can be easily treated with specialized oils.

CAUSES FOR DANDRUFF

Skin cells are formed continuously on the scalp, so the shedding of dead skin cells is a normal process. With dandruff, however, skin cells are shed at a faster rate than normal. Oil from the scalp causes the skin cells to clump together and appear as white flakes.
Dandruff can be caused by a number of things, including dry skin; sensitivity to hair products; and skin conditions such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, or eczema.

The overgrowth of yeast can also cause dandruff. This overgrowth can be caused by stress, hormones, too much oil on the scalp, or problems with the immune system.

TREATMENT FOR DANDRUFF
Apply DANO after head bath when hair is dry.
Apply DANO over the scalp and rub well over the surface using finger ends.
DANO is presented in an easily absorbing and non-sticky form.
DANO is recommended for use as regular hair oil. Use of any other hair oil or creams therefore not necessary.
